Be careful. When you try too hard to break free from the clichéd circle, you may lose your identity to the clichéd mass outside of it.

oohh this is very nice!

one question though, why make the line thicker when the object is further from the viewer? shouldn't it be that as it gets further, it's less of a focus, so the line becomes thinner?

You're adding shadow to it, giving it depth. The line isn't thick as in it's getting better. It's thick because it has more shadow.
